About Us

Founding

Grace United Church of Christ was founded in 1901. In 1921, there was a major overhaul of construction and property arrangement that is still in action today.

Affiliation

Grace United Church of Christ is affiliated with the denomination "United Church of Christ" in the United States.

Our Purpose

"The avowed purpose of this church shall be to worship God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate the Sacraments; to realize Christian Fellowship and unity within this church and to the Church Universal; to render loving service toward humankind; and to strive for righteousness, justice, and peace."

Church Government

The Church Government is run as this: The Church has Committees to fulfill the functions of the Church; The Committees are represented on the Church Council; Previous Council Members then elect members to the Church Council to fill their role, which is then run by the Council President and Vice President. The Pastor of the Church attends as an Advisor, not a Member nor part of the Council.

Membership

Members in our Church have gone through Confirmation at some point in their life; whether it was as Teenager/Young Adult or through a brief Confirmation as an Adult. This was either done at Grace or through a previous Church, and transferred in.  We are always looking for members to join our Church. They help in the Service, Choir, Committees, or being a part of the Church Council. At Grace, we consider our Members as a Family, due to the closeness of being a small Church. Interested in joining?
